Great joy at MARGA: At the award ceremony for the winning companies of the 29th Comenius EduMedia Award for digital educational media, MARGA Business Simulation GmbH was not only awarded with the Comenius EduMedia seal for the “Game-based digital educational media” category, but also the coveted Comenius Medal. With this award, the Gesellschaft für Pädagogik, Information und Medien e. V. (GPI) recognizes outstanding digital educational media for work, education, school, culture and leisure.
MARGA for Students is a dynamic and realistic online business game competition in which students from all over the world compete against each other in teams. In the complex and dynamic MARGA business game, teams manage their own virtual company. They develop strategies and turn them into business decisions. In doing so, they are in exciting and dynamic competition with other teams. The program offers students the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge practically in a playful environment. The independent development, application and repetition of content ensures that students actively engage with the learning content and internalize what they have learned. They learn how a company functions as a whole and how the individual areas of the company are interlinked. Management becomes tangible for them in the business game. Theoretical business administration content becomes an exciting game.
Digital educational media awarded by the GPI must be designed and realized according to pedagogical, didactic, aesthetic and technical criteria. The GPI has been pursuing this goal with the Comenius EduMedia Awards since the beginning of the Comenius competition. Digital media support teaching and learning not only in schools, but also in work, education and training, in culture and leisure. The breadth of submissions to the Comenius EduMedia Award reflects this impressively. Around 150 manufacturers, publishers, projects and authors from several European countries submitted digital educational products and faced the vendor-neutral competition jury. 14 outstanding submissions were especially honored and highlighted with an EduMedia medal. This also included “MARGA for Students”.
The fact that MARGA for Students was not only awarded the seal, but also the Comenius EduMedia Medal in the category “Game-based digital educational media”, confirms the high quality and innovative approach of the program.
About MARGA for Students
In MARGA for Students, students manage the entire entrepreneurial process of their virtual company themselves over a period of eight weeks – from setting objectives to corporate strategy and sustainable success. The aim is to develop products, position them on the market and sell them. As a team, they make decisions in the areas of marketing, production and financing.
For the entire duration of the program, students have access to the online course “Financial Basics” as well as subject-specific learning videos, which provide important theoretical foundations. The “Financial Basics” online course provides individual training in the basics of internal and external accounting. In the learning videos, which were produced brand new just last year, we cover management topics that participants will encounter in the business game. Participants can access the videos at any time and without limit and deepen their knowledge in the following areas: analyzing market research reports, implementing strategies, understanding financial reports, reading balance sheets, using cost accounting, increasing company value. In addition, weekly Q&A sessions are held by MARGA trainers, in which all questions relating to the business game and the learning content can be asked.
