MARGA Online Competition 2024/2025

Who claimed the title of MARGA Champion in the grand final?

Once again this year, numerous young professionals from national and international companies competed in the MARGA Online Competition: head-to-head, in a virtual market, under realistic conditions. Over several months, they demonstrated their management skills. Now, the program has reached its climax with an exciting final round, where the top four teams competed directly against each other.

The Competition: From the main round to the grand final

Kick-off in fall 2024

The competition began in November last year with 26 motivated teams. In two initial test rounds, participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the software and the dynamic market, and to try out their first strategies. Then things got serious: the main round began! In five exciting periods, the participants had to tackle the core challenges of entrepreneurial decision-making:

  • Conducting market analyses
  • Developing competitive strategies
  • Producing products and successfully positioning them in various markets
  • Managing finances and steering investments

After a thrilling neck-and-neck race, four teams qualified for the final round:

  • Team 12 from Goldbeck
  • Team 14 from Goldbeck
  • Team 18 from Continental
  • Team 20 from SCHOTT AG

The Final Round: Decision-making under pressure

New starting point, new strategy

The finale introduced a new and challenging scenario. In five more periods, strategic thinking and operational action under time pressure were essential:

  • Who can apply their acquired management know-how most effectively?
  • Who adapts most flexibly to change?
  • Which team operates best as a unit?

In the MARGA business game, participants learn how to apply management know-how in a dynamic, realistic market environment. That’s why our scenarios always reflect current economic developments – currently shaped by uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and growing protectionism. These same challenges awaited the finalists. They not only had to hold their ground against strong competition but also continuously adapt their strategies to global market changes.

High tension in the final period

The first four periods of the final round were carried out in a tightly scheduled timeframe and required precise decisions. The grand final event on May 22 and 23, 2025, marked the highlight: in the last period, teams had exactly 90 minutes to make their final decisions. It was high tension right up to the last minute!

Award ceremony and a shared conclusion

On the second day of the final event, the finalist teams, the MARGA team, and company representatives came together for the festive award ceremony. The focus was on pride in their achievements, team spirit and of course, the big question: Who would win the title?

After a strong performance, Team 12 from Goldbeck was able to prevail against the strong competition with a clear lead of 149 million Euro. Followed by Team 14 from Goldbeck, which, after a strong race to catch up, was no longer able to secure victory, but secured second rank. They were closely followed by Team 20 from SCHOTT. Team 18 from Continental took fourth place, not giving up after initial problems and finishing in a strong fourth place.
