The winning team from Goldbeck shares their story
Now that it’s over, we almost miss our weekly meetings a little. Even though it was intense at times, that’s exactly what made it so appealing.
We invested the necessary time in the business simulation and were able to learn a lot from it, especially those of us who hadn’t delved so deeply into corporate finance before.
One of the biggest challenges for us as a team was decision-making. Especially at the beginning, it wasn’t always easy to reach clear conclusions quickly. Over time, however, we started to work together more and more smoothly, which made our collaboration significantly more efficient and also more relaxed.
It was especially helpful that everyone contributed their individual strengths. As the game progressed, tasks were distributed more and more organically. At the same time, the thrill of opportunity and risk constantly motivated us to keep at it and take a chance every now and then.
In the end, it was precisely our courage to make decisions and take calculated risks that really propelled us forward. This combination of a willingness to take risks, dedication, and enthusiasm was crucial to our success.
Overall, the business simulation was a truly exciting and challenging competitive experience for us so far in our careers. We’ve developed a much better understanding of how companies operate, what matters when making decisions, and what challenges can arise in the process.
We’ve also grown in terms of soft skills: Above all, we’ve gained more self-confidence and learned to believe more strongly in our own abilities.
