For six months the team ran a virtual company – with success!

Excitement fills the air in the dining room of Schloss Gracht in Erftstadt. The participants in the business game and their supervisors watch the screen with rapt attention during the grand final at the end of April: just like in the audience vote on “Wetten Dass…?”, the colored bars of the individual companies move further and further forward and stop at the value they have generated.

With a company value created (the so-called “Marga Added Value”) of around 900 million euros, the SIS Controlling team receives a certificate as the third winner. “Anyone who has made it to the final is already a winner of our business game,” says Dr. Christoph Heinen, one of the Managing Directors of MARGA Business Simulations GmbH.

In October 2008, 86 teams of six people from 36 different companies started with one common goal in mind: to run a virtual company and increase its value within six months. The participants made real business decisions in the areas of research & development, marketing, production, human resources, controlling and finance.

The eight best teams (Bosch Rexroth, BTC, Deutsche Post DHL, EnBW, LBBW, Pfleiderer, Robert Bosch, ThyssenKrupp Technologies) qualified for the final from April 27 to 29 at Schloss Gracht. BTC took first place in the “Service” category and Robert Bosch in the “Industries” category.

Three EnBW teams from the SIS Controlling division were initially involved. The colleagues met every two weeks for around two hours to work out the best strategies. Two teams reached the quarter and semi-finals, one the final.

“We never thought we would make it to the final round and are very happy with our third place! It was great fun and we got a good overview of what it means to run a company with all its different areas,” said the controllers.
