Business Simulation: Managing companies through a crisis

Business Simulation: Managing companies through a crisis

Experience how a company functions in a crisis and test practical turnaround measures in the MARGA business game

The Corona crisis and the effects of the Ukraine war have shown how easily companies can slip into crisis. For many companies, the current economic situation is becoming a challenge.

Successful crisis management is key. For this to succeed, your employees should also understand how a company functions in a crisis.

MARGA makes exactly that possible. In the protected area of the MARGA business simulation, participants experience the effects of economic crises on a company, accompanied by competent MARGA experts.

The MARGA business game: How do companies function in a crisis?

Logistics chains are interrupted, prices for raw materials and intermediate products are rising rapidly; rising interest rates are making the company's financing more expensive. The company's own costs are soaring and actually require a price adjustment. At the same time, galloping inflation is reducing customers' purchasing power and depriving them of the opportunity to pay rising prices. Liquidity is tight and losses are imminent. A domino effect that threatens the existence of the company. In this situation, what decisions help to ensure solvency and avoid over-indebtedness?

What options are there to counter the crisis? At what point is the existence at risk? What reserves are there and when do you mobilize them? What is the role of cash management? How long can we afford it? Crisis management is in demand. In short: How do companies function in a crisis?

In the MARGA business game, we simulate a company in crisis. Participants experience the complex interrelationships and the influence of the crisis on financial parameters and key figures at first hand in their virtual company. They are challenged to test concrete turnaround measures and successfully manage the crisis. In the protected area of the MARGA business simulation, you will experience the effects of economic crises on a company, accompanied by competent MARGA trainers.

You would like to send your employees to a MARGA program? We show you three options.

MARGA Management Training

MARGA Management Training is one of our open programs for which you can register teams and individuals. The special feature: We offer the program as an online, blended learning and face-to-face solution on different dates.

Participants train their management skills in a combination of guided modules as well as individual learning and teamwork. In the business game, we integrate real economic events and developments. Current problems such as rising commodity prices, inflation, payment defaults, delivery problems and sales slumps are also reflected in the business game and translated into a crisis scenario.

Depending on the variant, the expert presentations will be held on site or as a web conference by experienced MARGA experts. Between these modules, the participants work together flexibly in (virtual) teamwork and make decisions for their simulation company by the next deadline. They can access individual tutoring at any time. The program is rounded off with a transfer workshop, comprehensive feedback and an award ceremony.

MARGA Online Competition

In the MARGA Online Competition, teams from companies around the world compete against each other over a period of six months with the goal of leading their own virtual company to success. The program is suitable for young professionals and can teach those just starting out in their careers in a tangible way about the impact that crises and current economic events have on a company.

By spreading the match periods over several months, participants have sufficient time to make their decisions between the individual periods. With a time commitment of approximately 2 hours per week, the program can thus be excellently integrated into everyday working life.

Your customized inhouse program

In addition to our open programs, we also offer customized in-house events. In joint dialog, we develop a concept that draws on proven program processes and can also be adapted to the customer's individual needs.

An in-house program offers you the opportunity to address company-specific challenges and crisis in the industry and to set content-related focuses. For this purpose, we take up learning content from the business simulation and establish a concrete reference to the respective customer company.
