Team skill enhancement by means of a business simulation

Efficient teamwork is the basis for company success and a key competency on all hierarchical levels. This especially applies to the medial cooperation of virtual teams who work across locations.

At the MARGA business simulation all team members carry the same entrepreneurial responsibility for their virtual company. The simulation drives the participants into moments of corporate decision-making in which they inevitably need to find their own role within the team in order to lead their team to success. The decision-making process clearly shows the functionality of teamwork within a target-oriented business context and even beyond that: Which team roles are available and how are they distributed? How is it possible to compensate missing role competencies?  Which are the conflicts this can lead to and how should a team deal with these in a professional manner. How do you handle defeat and how do you celebrate success as a team.

A core competency on all managerial levels is not only to perceive how a team works together, but also to know how conflicts can be resolved and finally to know how respectively when a team needs motivation. The simulation helps to acquire the according tools. 

Team development at MARGA

MARGA Inhouse: On request, during your MARGA Inhouse seminar, our skilled team coaches will observe the group dynamical processes within your simulation team as well as the individual behavior of each team member. Subsequently they can give useful advice and feedback to the whole team as well as to the individual team members. The team development performance during your seminar can additionally be enhanced by the specific contribution of experts in a plenary session. That way all team experiences will be pulled together and brought into a professional coherence?

An in-class seminar with a professional MARGA team coach can be booked in all three versions of the simulation: MARGA Industry, MARGA Service or MARGA Strategy.

At the Online Competition the participants work together as a management team and run their own simulated company - all web-based, self-directed and independent of location. After the internal discussions the teams submit their common decisions for the current simulation period. Especially in this format efficient team work is a key success factor. The MARGA tutors support all teams by webinars, tutorials notes and individual consulting by phone, e-mail and web conferences.

Overall the MARGA experience was a nice mixture of “non-stop” challenges, international team work and valuable learning from a near to “real life” business simulation. It was a great pleasure to work in a real international team not only because of different nationalities (Poland, The Netherlands, Romania and Russia) but also because of huge international working experience for each of us. We made it to the finals because of the team spirit!

MARGA Business Simulations - Management training for high potentials and executives

MARGA Business Simulations is a General Management training in which the participants manage all departments and functions of a simulated company in teams. This strategic simulation is suited to gain an overall entrepreneurial perspective. Participants get to know management skills and have to apply their knowledge within the game. Being a General Management business simulation, MARGA imparts interdisciplinary perspectives which enable participants to gain insights into all functional areas of a company: marketing, production, finance and controlling.
